CINCINNATI -- Officials and residents are shocked as a Tri-state community continues to serve as the location for shootings and other violent incidents, News 5's John London reported.
Police said about 50 bullets were fired Wednesday at about 9:30 p.m. at Linn and York streets. Witnesses told police that when shots rang out from a white Trailblazer, it was just the latest in a string of shootings.
Tuesday, shots rang out during a block party in Over-The-Rhine. Two people were also found shot inside a car at Lynn and Dayton streets, but no one has been arrested.
For residents, what's even scarier is the kind of firepower the gunmen are using. According to police, the guns used include Kalashnikov Rifles, commonly used in Iraq and Afghanistan, London reported.
"I'm surprised that people weren't killed out here," said Diane Perry. "At night, they come and they pick up the drug dealers and change shifts right in front of my house."
Now, police are canvassing the area using information from residents.
In Wednesday's shooting, one bullet shattered the back window of Linda Thomas' new Ford Focus. The bullets tore through her warranty and left a hole in the front windshield.
Thomas had just stepped outside for some evening air when the gunfire began.
"They were just shooting everywhere, anywhere. It didn't make any difference," she said.
One woman was shot in the foot as she sat on some steps and another woman was shot in the shoulder down the street.
"I don't even think these guys had anybody particular in mind. They was just shooting," said Dexter Daniels, an area resident.
